London Care Home fined over £30k for breaking fire safety laws resulting in a fire!

The London Fire Brigade has successfully prosecuted a Care Home for 3 offences under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

The Care Home based in Penge, South East London has pleaded guilty to not have a fire risk assessment, blocking a fire escape route with combustible materials and wedging fire doors open, and failing to keep firefighting equipment in working order.

The fire caused one resident to be taken to hospital suffering from severe smoke inhalation. She was put on a life support machine and spent more than a month in hospital before being released.
